ZTEs Grand S Android smartphone makes a big splash at CES
When ZTE announced the Grand S during CES, it had a lot of attention—and many Android fans salivating. The Grand S is a poster boy for high-end specs, when it comes to a smartphone. With a 5-inch, 1080p display, a blistering fast 1.7GHz Snapdragon S4 Pro (quad-core) processor and a 13-megapixel camera, who wouldn’t want this bad boy. Toss in the fact that it’s only 6.9mm thin (end to end) and you would think that this is a device that should be made by a company like HTC or Samsung.

While ZTE has released several devices here in the US, they’ve typically been budget phones for carriers like Metro PCS, Cricket and so on, but with the Grand S, the Chinese company is looking to go after the “premium” market. ZTE has released some premium phones in China, but none of them have made their way across the pond to American shores. But the Grand S will change all that, ZTE’s USA CEO Lixin Cheng said that the Grand S would be making its way to the US later this year, with LTE in tow.

Check out the premium specs:

  • Android Jelly Bean
  • 5-inch 1080p Display
  • 1.7GHz Snapdragon S4 Pro CPU
  • 2GB RAM
  • 16GB storage (with SD card support for storage expansion)
  • 13MP rear camera
  • 2MP front camera
  • 1080p video recording
  • LTE compatibility

We’re not sure how well ZTE’s bad boy will do when it ventures to the States, but you can bet that there will be groups of “techies” who will love to toy with this monster. The only thing that may prevent the Grand S from being a success are the price tag and how closely it launches next to the Galaxy S IV, the most anticipated Android device this year. I know I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t interested in checking this phone out, how many of you are feeling the same?
