Windows Phone 7 Launches today!

Well the day has finally arrived. The day that Microsoft’s new mobile operating system, Windows Phone 7, will put the iPhone to death. You all remember the fake funeral that Microsoft held for the iPhone, right? Microsoft is betting the farm, or at least it’s mobile divsion, on this OS. They are going to bet Apple and the iPhone all with no tethering and no copy and paste and a virtual barren wasteland of Apps. BUT, they do have access to Xbox Live, since most of America does that you know (sarcasm)….who are they kidding. While Microsoft’s latest attempt to “catch up” to the rest of Mobile world might be a nice step in the right direction, it’s half baked and a little to late. With iOS and Android taking more of the market everyday and 300K and 100K apps each respectively, Microsoft is just way to far behind.

With the all-new look of the WP7 OS the question remains, will it be enough to sway the average consumer who walks into AT&T (Verizon isn’t on board just yet remember…?) and says I want a smart phone and looks at the gorgeous screen on the iPhone and remembers all the catchy ads they’ve seen on TV or even sees the beautiful Sense UI on the Aria or even Samsungs Galaxy S with live wallpapers? When you look at a Windows Phone 7 stock, it’s just a bunch of ugly cubes with words…It’s going to be a tough sell for Microsoft. Luckily they’ve got some good manufactures producing handsets like HTC and their HD7 and Surround and Samsung’s Focus. The Dell Venue Pro and LG Quantum are also coming.

So the question is…are you swayed. Do you find the interface, lack of Apps, lack of features and the Microsoft brand appealing?
