Over the last few weeks, French website Nowwhereelse.fr has been posting leaked photos of the new iPhone. Today is no different, as the French site has posted what looks to be the new iPhone, completely built and compared to the iPhone 4/4S and the iPhone 3GS.
There’s a pretty good chance that this is what the new iPhone will look like, but as far as this being “the” new iPhone, I’m not convinced. The parts are probably all real, but they have appear to have been “built” or assembled by someone who had access to extra parts, not a manufacturer like Foxconn. There are a few dead giveaways, but the main one is the volume buttons on these side profile screen shots. If you check out this video we posted a while back, that gives an overview of new iPhone parts, including the new micro SIM tray, it also shows the volume buttons. In the screen shots (see the gallery below), we can see silver or plain metal volume buttons and sound toggle switch against a blue-ish/gunmetal band. This is a design aesthetic that Apple would not make and from the video, we know that those gunmetal buttons exist, so it’s a matter using the right materials.
One thing that is interesting, when comparing the back of the new iPhone to the iPhone 4/4S, you can clearly see the new iPhone has a smaller camera lens, at least in diameter. What does this mean for the new iPhone’s camera? We’re not exactly sure, but it’s pretty safe to assume that Apple won’t go backwards in technology, the question is, will they go forward or just leave it as an 8-megapixel shooter like the 4S?
Overall, this is most likely the final look of the new iPhone, it’s just not the “actual” new iPhone.
