So the image below is from the guys over at Phandroid, who say that the oft-rumored DROID RAZR Max has just made an appearance in Verizon’s inventory system. The picture below doesn’t show much, as it looks like the same device, which makes us wondering… what is the “max” mean?

We’ve heard rumors reporting a bigger battery for longer life, but the one rumor that seems to make more sense is the addition of a 720p display. As that is the facet that the RAZR loses out to when compared to the HTC Rezound and Galaxy Nexus (not including Ice Cream Sandwich). The RAZR is thinner and also has LTE to match the other two, it also gets better batter life. But, if the RAZR Max adds a 720p display, what will happen to that good LTE battery life? They may need a bigger battery, which could affect the RAZR’s overall thinness.

Phandroid also points out we could see an upgraded camera to a sweet, 13mp shooter. We’ll have to wait and see if it ships this year or if it will be an early 2012 device with Android 4.0.
