The Astonishing Tribe or “TAT” Founder leaves RIM to create a new startup

And another one bites the dust…

It’s getting a bit repetitive when it comes to RIM and employees leaving the struggling company before—or if—they release their upcoming BlackBerry 10 OS and devices. But, here we are, this time it’s Hampus Jakobsson, who found the UI design company TAT or The Astonishing Tribe. RIM purchased the UI design crew back in 2010, in an effort to spruce up their next operating system, which still hasn’t launched.

Jakobsson says he’s decide to leave RIM because he’s a “Start-Up” kind of guy and wants to get back to creating another one. The rest of his team however have decide to stick around, for now, and say that Hampus has left them with everything he knows. Still, the fact that the founder of the team has decide to leave RIM only months before the company “finally” ships their new OS doesn’t bode well for the progress that they’re making.

Hampus Jakobsson is yet another high-level employee that has either left or been “let go” from RIM over the past year. Whatever the case may be, this doesn’t help morale, when the remaining employees continue to see familiar faces leaving the company week after week and month after month. Mark my words, Jakobsson will not be the last high-level employee to leave RIM before BB10 ships, assuming it actually does ship.
