About a year ago a development studio called, FourBros Studios, released a game called Taptitude for the Window Phone OS. Taptitude is an app that is collection of 60 mini games, but FourBros is constantly adding more. Players earn coins, which can then be spent to unlock more games. Since its release, Taptitude has earned over $100,000 for FourBros, all while remaining free. Taptitude, like many games, is a free game that makes its money from in-game ads which in this case, were generated from Microsoft’s pubCenter and the AdDuplex ad service. With over 300,00 users and over a one million daily impressions, it’s easy to see how FourBros app is making $1,000 a day.
Another interesting note is that while HTC is the number one manufacturer running Taptitude, Nokia is already number two, which is says great things about Nokia’s growth, considering they have only three phones on the market since November last year.
Overall, this is great news for Microsoft and the Windows Phone ecosystem, hopefully this news spreads and developers take advantage of the possibilities. For instance, Rovio’s Angry Birds is only available for a premium price of $0.99, Rovio could be making thousands more if they just added ad-supported alternative.
