Skype finally adds video chat to select Android devices

For some of us, we’ve been waiting for this day since we first bought a phone with a front facing camera, iPhones included. Facetime is nice, but if you don’t have an iPhone, well, you don’t have an iPhone…so you can’t talk to anyone on one. But, with Skype you can chat with anyone who has the app. So it was only a matter of time (and delays) till we got  Skype with Video on phones. iOS got the feature first, but finally, Android users are getting some Skype Video love.

While the list isn’t long and doesn’t really cover really popular devices (ie. EVO 4G, Thunderbolt, Charge, Galaxy S II etc…) with the the exception of the Nexus S and perhaps the HTC Desire S at least it’s a start. We should start seeing more and more devices added to the list over the next few months.

To top things off, you’ll also notice a new user interface, the redesign is nice and very clean. You’ll also be able to SMS from Skype as well now.

Here is the current list of phones supported:

HTC Desire S
Sony Ericsson Xperia Neo
Sony Ericsson Xperia Pro
Google Nexus S

Again, if you don’t see your phone, at least the service is here and will be growing over the next few months, just be a little more patient.
