Samsung released a press release today that says they’ll be updating the U.S. versions of their popular Galaxy S III, but failed to mention any specific date, except “in the coming months.” Which I couldn’t help but laugh at because it was only five days I made the tweet below.
The reason for the unspecified date for the update to Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, is because even if Samsung has a functioning version, the update must pass through all the carriers on which the Galaxy S III is available. So in this case, that’s five when you include Verizon, AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile and U.S. Cellular. Carriers tend to take their time and can be a little picky, so we’ll be lucky if we see this before Christmas.
Either way, it’s nice to see Samsung actually supporting their devices.
