moto x leak 580x773 Rumor: Leaked photo of the Motorolas Moto X Phone have surfaced

The Motorola Moto X Phone has been rumored for a while, ever since Google closed the deal on purchasing Motorola last year, rumors have been circulating that Moto would release a phone that would set the bar for all other Android OEMs. We’ve heard rumors of an amazing edge-to-edge display, with a high pixel density, a long lasting battery, a thin profile, a whopping 13-16-megapixel camera and perhaps the wildest rumor,  a completely customizable case prior to ordering (i.e. a bunch of colors).

Well, if this image above is real, which many believe it is, then those hardcore Android fans that have been holding out for the X Phone may be severely disappointed. According to Phone Arena, who received this image, the phone shown above features only a 720p display, a 1.7GHz “dual-core” processor, a 10-megapixel camera, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of storage and 2-megapixel camera, as well as arriving with Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean.

These specs are sad, when you consider that the Galaxy S4 has a 1.9GHz quad-core processor, a 5-inch 1080p display, a 13-megapixel camera, 16 and 32GB of storage, a 2.1 megapixel front facing camera and has been available for some time. The supposed X Phone isn’t scheduled for release for another two months or so and it’s already outdated.

There are only two things we can hope for with the X Phone, assuming these specs are legit. One, this is a budget friendly model and will retail for a lower price without a contract and that a higher priced version will follow or be released along side it. Or two, these specs are out of date and this model that has been shown, is just a concept device and does not represent a final production model.

If you want my opinion, I think there’s going to be some major disappointment when this device is announced by Motorola come August.

The phone pictured is being tested on Sprint’s 4G LTE network, though little else can be ascertained from the image. When it launches later this year, the Moto X will reportedly feature a 720p display, a 1.7GHz dual-core Snapdragon processor, a 10-megapixel camera, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage, a 2-megapixel front-facing camera and Android Jelly Bean. The leaked Moto X photo follows below.
