Here we go again…
Based off another analyst’s “gut feeling,” Apple will release not one, not two, but three versions of the iPhone 5S. Supposedly each version will carry a slightly different display size, according to Topeka’s Apple analyst Brian White. Presumably, Apple will retain the same 4-inch display as found on the iPhone 5, but there will likely be a smaller (3.5-inch) and possible a larger 4.7-inch. This is not the first time we’ve heard that Apple would release an iPhone with an even larger display that its 4-inch iPhone 5.
Speaking with investors today, White said, “We believe Apple is coming around to the fact that one size per iPhone release does not work for everyone, and offering consumers an option has the potential to expand the company’s market share.“ While I completely agree with what White says there, so far there hasn’t been any proof, other than wishful thinking, that Apple is planning to increase its iPhone screen size again (after the iPhone 5′s jump to 4-inches from 3.5-inches found all previous models). The idea of Apple making a larger iPhone, with the impending release of iOS 7 down the line is very tantalizing, but considering there are still apps out there that still haven’t taken advantage of the iPhone 5′s larger display, increasing it again so soon seems very unlike Apple.
To doubt this theory even more, if these rumors were in fact true… where’s the proof? The iPhone 4 was leaked two months before its unveiling, the iPhone 5 was leaked over 5 months before it was announced. If what White is saying is true and with rumors suggesting that the iPhone 5S will be released in June or July, why hasn’t anything been leaked? There’s been no new front panel digitizers, no back casings showing a larger footprint… nothing.
If I were an investor, I’d find another analyst to get my facts from, it’s people like White that are going to cause the crash of Apple stocks. They puff up the Apple news and when Apple fails to deliver, it’s their fault, not the analysts.
