Rumor: Apple set to debut the new iPhone on September 12, release date scheduled for September 21

It’s Monday morning, the start of a new week and what better way to kick off the last week of July than with yet another iPhone release date rumor! Today’s rumor comes from a “reliable” source who has apparently proven accurate in the past, according iMore, who reported the story. The rumor suggests that Apple is planning a special event in about 6 weeks, on September 12, in which they’ll debut the new iPhone and supposedly, the new smaller iPad. While iMore’s source doesn’t peg a date for the smaller iPad, they do however suggest that the new iPhone will be released 9 days later on September 21.

If the date of September 21 sounds familiar, that’s because just last week french website, App4Phone, reported that the new iPhone would launch on the same day, having cited Chinese manufacturers. We’ve also seen reports that say production has already been started and if true, would lead to more truth behind these rumors.

In the end, these are still rumors, but iMore does have a pretty solid track record and if they their source has been accurate as well, I’m more inclined to believe them, then not. Still, these are rumors and should be treated as such, until we see some physical proof.
