Rovio’s Bad Piggies breaks records

Looks like the Finnish developer, Rovio, has yet another hit on their hands. Their latest game, Bad Piggies, has broken the record set by both Angry Birds Space and Amazing Alex, their last two games released, sequentially, in the climb to the top. It only took 3 hours to hit the number one spot on iTunes.

“It’s been an incredible launch, both for the game and for Bad Piggies as a brand,” said Rovio CEO Mikael Hed.

If you haven’t heard of, or played Bad Piggies, it’s another physics based game, but instead of mindlessly flinging birds via a slingshot, players must use objects like boxes, fans, wheels and more to move their pig through a level to obtains stars and eventually, and safely, reach their goal line. It’s not quite the simple game player of Angry Birds are use too, it requires a lot more thought and strategy.

Rovio hasn’t listed any specific sales numbers yet, but I think with the rate it climbed the charts, it’s safe to say this game will outsell Angry Birds. Now if they can just update it to be optimized for the iPhone 5, all would be well in the world.
