It’s been teased for a while, but Rovio is finally set to release Bad Piggies, the spin-off game based in the Angry Birds universe, tomorrow, Thursday September 27th. Bad Piggies is the first game from of the Finnish developer that allows players to finally play through the Pigs perspective, but unlike Angry Birds, which requires players to fling birds via a slingshot at the pigs, who are barricaded by wood, glass and concrete, Big Piggies forces players to build contraptions in order to obtain stars and achieve a goal.
While it’s great to see Rovio branching out in terms of gameplay, current Angry Birds fans and younger players may find Bad Piggies to be a more complicated, as it is more of a thinking man’s game, as opposed to just pulling back a bird on a slingshot, using mindless trial and error. The game’s levels are setup very similar to Angry Birds, pick a level and you’ll be presented with a board that offers a challenge. Throughout the level there are three stars and a goal. At the beginning, players are given several objects, like wheels, a fan, balloons, a box and more. From these objects, players will create some type of apparatus that will guide the Pig “safely” inside, to the level’s goal.
Bad Piggies goes on sale tomorrow for iOS, OS X and Android. While Rovio hasn’t announced a price, we’re going to assume that it will retain the same pricing structure as other Angry Birds games, $0.99 for the phone versions and $2.99 for the tablet versions.
