Despite Rovio celebrating the news that Angry Birds has been downloaded over one billion times, the Finnish company isn’t sitting around betting the farm on those brave little birds. To help celebrate the occasion, Rovio released a video, via YouTube, showing a bird being flung from the earth to space, then pans out to show a boy holding a smartphone, who turns to the camera and gives a thumbs up.
The boy at end of the video is Alex, the character from Rovio’s next big title, Amazing Alex. Rovio CEO Mikael Hed spoke with Finnish site, YLE (Finnish), where he said that Rovio had purchased the rights to a game called Casey’s Contraptions, a game which challenges players with complex puzzles that must be solved by using a collection of random objects. Hed said they are going to release their game with Rovio’s “high level of standards” and of course the new name, Amazing Alex.
While Hed announced the game, he didn’t give a date for its release, so who knows how long we’ll have to wait. For now, check out the video for Casey’s Contraptions for an idea of what to expect.
