For some odd reason, Research in Motion (RIM) has decide to release a 4G LTE equipped BlackBerry PlayBook. I guess the truth comes out, we now know what they’ve been doing up there in Canada for the past year, while not releasing any new phones. They’ve been working on the same PlayBook as last year’s Playbook. I guess it takes a year to figure out how to squeeze an LTE radio in one of those things without changing, or upgrading, any of the other components.
Good thing they wrapped up this project, seeing as how they plan to cut another 3,000 jobs come August 13th. Yet for some odd reason, the people that keep making all the horrible decisions that got them to this point, somehow manage to keep their jobs, while the work force, who simply take orders, take the hit. RIM is beyond saving at this point, whoever decide it was a good idea to release a 4G LTE PlayBook a year later, without the slightest upgrade is a complete and utter moron. The PlayBook hasn’t sold well as it is, what makes RIM think people are going to pony up for a PlayBook with a higher price tag?
If I come off biased here, it’s just that I’m really frustrated at the decision making process of a once great company and I really feel bad for the employees in Waterloo, because when RIM does go under or sells out, there’s going to be a town with a lot of unemployed people all because of incompetent leadership.
