Nokia has announced a new deal with Groupon that will see the “daily deal service” being incorporated into Nokia’s Map app, available on their Lumia Windows Phones. The new service, called “Groupon Now,” will show up on users maps as a little green “G” which users can tap on, allowing them to see what the deal is and simply get directions to it.
“Groupon Now! on Nokia Maps is a great way to get nearby deals on demand that you can buy and use the same day. You can buy them and use them right away for instant gratification. We think that this is a perfect way to try new places or find great offers around you, in your home city or when traveling,” said Pino Bonetti, a Nokia employee, who posted on the company’s blog.
Groupon believes that this new method of finding great deals will help those who have been frustrated with the service, seeing how some deals sound great, but usually end up being to far away for some users in certain locations. Now with Nokia Maps, those users can see exactly how far away the deal is and if they don’t know how to get there, they can simply use the built in navigation feature of Nokia Maps.
As of right now, the new service is only available in the United States, but Nokia plans to roll it out to other countries with the release of their upcoming Windows Phone 8 devices, which is expected to debut sometime in October or November.
