New HTC tablet, the “Vertex” gets benchmarked with 1.7GHz quad-core

For the most part, HTC has been a non-factor in the tablet market, while they may have sold a few of their 7-inch tablets, the Flyer/EVO View, their larger effort, the JetStream on AT&T wasn’t even a flash in the pan, they sort of missed the whole “flash” thing. It seemed like the JetStream was barely even noticed, which may have been a result of it’s ridiculously high price point, even on a 2-year subsidized contract.

But it looks like that hasn’t stopped HTC, who has gone back to the drawing board and has created a new 10.1 inch device. The “Vertex” as it’s being called right now, may feature a beefy 1.7GHz quad-core NVIDIA Tegra 3 processor, assuming the benchmarks are correct. The Nenamarks benchmark test suggests not only the processor, but the display as well, which is a big letdown at only 1280×786, especially when you consider the smaller Nexus 7, has a 1280×800 resolution display and is 3 inches smaller.

We don’t know much more in terms of specs, we could guesstimate, but what’s the point? They’ll leak out eventually. What do you all think? Will this be the tablet that puts HTC back on the map?
