A newly leaked image of what is being called the iPad 3 rear casing has been dissected over at Repair Labs. Their findings are lining up with previous rumors, suggesting that the new iPad 3 will have a larger battery, a bigger and more improved rear camera and a different display.
To break things down more specifically, the camera on the iPad 3 (right) is completely different than the one found on the iPad 2 (left). The casing looks larger, which should allow for the iPad to house a bigger camera sensor, more like the iPhone 4S. As for the battery, Repair Labs say that the spacing where the battery typically lays on the case looks to be significantly larger, thus providing more juice. That extra juice will be needed power the iPad 3′s rumored high resolution display and new A6 processor. Repair Labs says that the mounting for the display is also much different than the previous model, meaning the display is not the same one, and while this claim does not outright confirm it, it does suggest that we are getting a whole new display which could quite possibly be of HD/Retina quality.
The other note that was interesting, was that Repair Labs says they didn’t noticed anything thicker about the casing, meaning the rumors that the iPad 3 would be thicker than the iPad 2, could be false.
We have about a month or so left before Apple officially unveils the new iPad, until then, we’re just going to have to keep guessing, or hope that a unit falls into the hands of “Mr. Blurrycam.”
