Finally, after months of rumors, leaked photos and speculation, HTC has taken the lid off their first 5-inch smartphone. Listed on their Japanese website, and called the J Butterfly, HTC has revealed what is quite possibly the most stunning smartphone this year, at least in terms of raw specs.
The J Butterfly, which is the successor to the HTC J, which was only released a few months ago, features a 5-inch SLC3 display with a 1080p resolution, shattering that of any other OEM’s display. With that type of resolution in a 5-inch size, you’re looking at about 440ppi, well above the iPhone’s 326 Retina display. If the display wasn’t enough to wet your appetite, then check out the other specs:
- Qualcomm S4 Pro 1.5GHz quad-core APQ8064 processor
- 2GB of RAM
- 8MP camera
- Android 4.1 Jelly Bean
- SLCD3 1080p 440ppi display
- NFC
- 2,020mAh battery
- 9.1mm thin
- Black, red, white color variations

Hopefully, with the current color scheming, we’ll see this device arrive in the states as the DROID Incredible X. If that’s the case, my Galaxy S III and I will be parting ways. What do you all think? Is this the device you’ve been waiting for and will it be enough to draw attention back to HTC and get them off the ropes?
