So it was reported late yesterday that the Android Community has finally been heard and won the fight for unlocked bootloaders from HTC. After several thousand people cried out for HTC to stop locking their bootloaders, HTC CEO Peter Chou finally broke the silence after HTC said it was reviewing the stance and stated on facebook:
“There has been overwhelmingly customer feedback that people want access to open bootloaders on HTC phones. I want you to know that we’ve listened. Today, I’m confirming we will no longer be locking the bootloaders on our devices. Thanks for your passion, support and patience,” Peter Chou, CEO of HTC
It is a great day for the community of Android users who enjoy rooting their phones and enjoy the freedom that Android brings them. Now that HTC has decided to no longer lock bootloaders on any more of their Android phones, what company will stand up and be next in line?
