Despite the fact that Google has remained mum on the sales figures of the Nexus 7, that hasn’t stopped ASUS’s CFO David Chang from releasing a few tidbits, after all, ASUS makes and ships the Nexus 7. Chang told the Wall Street Journal, that sales of the Nexus 7 have been growing, from about 500K, 600K and 700K a month, to now, where sales are nearly 1 million per month.

While the Nexus 7′s sales number don’t quite match that of the iPad, which sells about 13-15 million in a quarter, or about 1 million a week, for the Nexus, it’s still impressive considering most of its sales  come from at Google’s Play store online. While some stores like Gamestop sell the Nexus 7, it doesn’t have anywhere near the retail distribution as Apple’s iPad.

It should be interesting to see how Google’s latest tablet, the Nexus 10, which features the highest resolution of any tablet and only sells for $399 will do considering it has the same retail strategy as the Nexus 7.
