Google announced today that they’ve purchase the mobile office suite company, OuickOffice, a move that seems to have surprised most of the tech industry. QuickOffice has been providing office suite software that allows users to edit PowerPoint presentations, Word files and save PDF’s as well Excel files.
“Today, consumers, businesses and schools use Google Apps to get stuff done from anywhere, with anyone and on any device. Quickoffice has an established track record of enabling seamless interoperability with popular file formats, and we’ll be working on bringing their powerful technology to our Apps product suite.”
At this point, it’s clear that Google is aiming to take on both Microsoft and their upcoming mobile Office suite and Apple, who’s been heavily pushing their iWorks suite for the iPad. It should interesting to see how Google implements QuickOffice into their already strong Docs suite.
