It’s been rumored for a while and tonight, Facebook, has finally launched their “App Center,” an app recommendation services for iOS, Android and web apps built directly into Facebook. The App Center only contains 600 apps currently, but that’s because Facebook is only listing what they call “high quality apps.” Essentially, the way that the App Center works, is by recommending apps to its 900 million users. For instance, if Facebook recommends “Draw Something” to an iOS user, when clicked on, it takes them to the iOS app store, the same goes for an Android app. So it’s technically not a competitor to either the App Store for Google Play store. Aside from presenting a list of apps to Facebook users, the new App Center also recommends apps that their friends have also downloaded.
The App Center is already showing up on Facebook now, on the left hand column, under your profile picture, it’s listed under apps. It’s also in the mobile app as well.
