Facebook and HTC to attempt another smartphone

If at first you don’t succeed, try, try again. That seems to be the motto HTC and Facebook are about to test. According to Bloomberg, Facebook is looking to create a smartphone with HTC, who has dabbled with a smart phone with Facebook built-in already. Last year HTC released the “HTC Status” which featured a dedicated Facebook button that allowed users to simply click it, and they’d be taken directly to the Facebook application. This time around it looks like Facebook might have more control over the device and may actually put more implementation and customize on top of the the android experience, sort of like what Amazon did with the Kindle Fire.

This’ll doesn’t all seem to far-fetched, with Facebook purchasing several key companies such as Instagram and Face.com, not to mention the fact they’ve hired a few key engineers from Apple and Palm, who AllThingsD says will work on the upcoming phone, which is pegged for a mid-2013 release.

What do you all think? Would you ditch you current phone and ecosystem just for a Facebook phone?
