We were recently accepted into the private beta for AOL’s new email web app, ALTO. This new email web service aim to allow users with a GMail, Yahoo, AOL or iCloud email address to use the new ALTO service. ALTO is striving to bring users the easiest to use email interface, but also a new and unique way to view attachments images and more.
Since using the service, I’ve found it appealing and would love to use it more, but the fact that I have to log into a website to check my email bothers me. It’s easier for me to use Sparrow or Mail for Mac right on my desktop or my standard email apps on my smartphone. Because of this, I tweeted out to ALTO my thoughts on the matter, to which they replied:
This is exciting, if ALTO brings to Android and iOS what I’ve seen in their web app, this could be one of the best looking email applications on any device. Since the web app is still in private beta and they’re “working on” the mobile apps, we have no idea when we’ll see it, but the fact that AOL has confirmed to us that they’re in the pipeline, has us waiting on the edge of our seat.
