DROID Bionic gets official release date from an official commercial

We at Techhog have kept our coverage of the DROID Bionic to a minimum, why? Well, basically every other site has been running anything related to it, into the ground (much like the iPhone 5). Now if this device were, say, the Galaxy S II, with equal specs, I’d be all for it. But at this point the phone isn’t going to live up to the hype. Sure it has a nice 4.3″ qHD display, but I’ll take the 4.52″ Super AMOLED Plus display on the GSII. Sure, it has a Tegra 2 processor, but again, I’ll take the Exynos processor in the GSII, the thickness, camera, Motorola’s awful skin UI…you name it, I’d still take the Samsung Galaxy S II.

Now for those of you on Verizon, I can understand, since you don’t have anything else at the moment and yeah you won’t get the GSII everyone else is getting, yeah you should be excited. But honestly, if I were on Verizon, I’d pass on the Bionic and wait for either the rumored LTE GSII that will come with a possible 720p display or the DROID Prime. To me, the Bionic is too little, too late.

But since this post is about confirming the release date, check out the YouTube video below, a user caught an OFFICIAL DROID Bionic commercial during an episode of The George Lopez Show. It’s on TV, so it has to be real, right? Anyway, the date is confirmed for 9.8.11, so for those of you who’ve been dying to get your hands on this phone, you are now just about 6 days away. But who’s counting…?
