Having already announced a new phone at their Orlando conference, BlackBerry has made another big announcement. This summer, BlackBerry will release it’s popular (and possibly biggest selling point) BlackBerry Messenger service (BBM) to competing platforms, specifically iOS (iOS 6.0 or higher) and Android (4.0 or Higher). While this may cannibalize the companies own device sales, BlackBerry CEO Thorsten Heins says they are looking to offer a fully featured BBM experience on those devices. So why would the company do this? Heins...

Thorsten Heins took the stage at a 3-day event in Orlando Florida where he announced a new, cheaper BlackBerry 10 device, the Q5. The new smartphone—which looks like a mini Amazon Kindle e-Reader—is the third device offered by the company to run the new BlackBerry 10 OS and the second to offer a true, physical QWERTY keyboard and 3.1-inch display. It’s thinner and lighter than the Q10 and is positioned at casual consumers, an area the Canadian company has lost ground to both Apple and Android. Heins sounded a little over optimistic...

T-Mobile has announced that starting today, business customers can begin ordering the BlackBerry Q10 smartphone. The Q10 is LTE capable and thus will function on T-Mobile’s growing network. The BlackBerry Q10 is the first BB10 device to come equipped with a physical QWERTY keyboard and a 3.1-inch touch screen display. Together with BlackBerry Hub, 4G LTE and HD Voice, the Q10 is perfect for business users on the go. The Q10 will start at $119.99 for business customer and qualifying plans. For consumers, the Q10 will become available...

Too little, too late. We’ve all heard this phrase throughout our lives, but in the case of BlackBerry’s Z10 it couldn’t be truer. The Z10 started off with better than expected sales when it debuted over seas and in Canada, with the company boasting that they’ve shipped over 1 million phones. However, that number was slightly misleading, as BlackBerry only “shipped” 1 million Z10s. They actually only sold about three quarters of that amount, or about 650,000 units. Now that the Z10 has been released...

Today, BlackBerry announced their 4th quarter numbers, slightly beating some Wall Street expectations. The company posted $2.7 billion in revenue, of which $94 million was profit, that’s the good news. Now for the bad news, they also lost another 3 million subscribers over the quarter, bringing the total to 76 million, down from 79 million in the third quarter. There’s more bad news, BlackBerry only shipped 6 million devices in the fourth quarter, of which, only a million were their new BlackBerry 10 powered Z10. While that...

Verizon has officially announced their launch plans for the BlackBerry Z10, the first phone to run the new BlackBerry 10 operating system. Starting today, Verizon will begin to accept pre-orders for the new device, which will officially go on sale March 28th. Customers who order their device early, will be receive it on the same day. As for the price, Verizon’s selling the new Z10 slab for the traditional price of $199 with a new two-year service agreement. Seeing how Sprint’s already expressed their interest in carrying only...

As expected, AT&T officially announced this morning that they’ll begin accepting pre-orders for the new BlackBerry Z10 starting tomorrow, March 12. The new smartphone will go on sale officially on March 22nd as previously reported. AT&T plans to sell the Z10 for $199.99 with a new two-year contract, which falls in line with most flagship smartphones, with the exception of Nokia’s Lumia 900 and 920, which both retailed for $99.99 (also with a 2-year contract). AT&T’s release date of March 22nd will coincide...

It appears as though the war between T-Mobile and AT&T is just heating up. First it was the vicious ad attacks—by both sides—and now it looks like T-Mobile is going to beat AT&T to punch by selling the BlackBerry Z10 first. Rumors began to swirled today, that AT&T customers would be able to scoop up the new BB10 smartphone on March 22nd, however, that rumor hasn’t been confirmed by AT&T or BlackBerry. T-Mobile on the other hand, just announced that eager BlackBerry consumers would be able to order their Z10 on...

It seems the hoopla over BlackBerry 10 and its sales has ended and reality has finally set it, it’s facing an uphill battle, regardless of pre-orders and sales in small territories. It was just announced that in the UK, retailers and carriers have already cut the price on the BlackBerry Z10—an area were the device was reportedly pre-ordering well. As for the U.S., a territory that BlackBerry still hasn’t launched its new hardware (but will, right as Samsung prepares to reveal their highly anticipated Galaxy S IV), Sprint—who...

We knew there would be companies that would watch BlackBerry’s (RIM) debut of BlackBerry 10 before deciding their future with the Canadian smartphone maker. While many industry critics have praised BlackBerry’s new OS, almost all of them have said basically the same thing: “While it’s a massive leap forward from its predecessor, the new BlackBerry...
