AT&T made a big announcement this morning, while news is still developing, the nation’s second largest cellular carrier has said they’ve signed an agreement to purchase Alltel’s (Atlantic Tele-Network, Inc.) retail business, aka customer base, for $780 million in cash. Much like how AT&T tried to purchase T-Mobile, this deal with also need to pass regulatory approval, so we’ll have to wait and see how this acquisition pans out.
