What you’re looking at above is not a “mini” BlackBerry Playbook, it’s actually the free BlackBerry 10 developer device that RIM will be giving away to developers at their upcoming developer event, BlackBerry World.
As you can see from the image below, from CrackBerry, which shows off other angles of the device, we can clearly see heavy influence from the company’s tablet, the Playbook. The volume rocker is nearly identical and the body itself even appears to be made of the same dull, rubberized finish. A picture surfaced last week that showed the back of this device, which featured a metallic BlackBerry logo, again, just like the Playbook.
It is entirely possible, that this device is merely for developers and its external design may not reflect the final product when it goes on sale later this year. Sadly, no other details were given, so we’ll have to wait until BlackBerry World officially kicks off tomorrow, May 1st, for final details.
