AT&T just dropped a bomb regarding the Lumia 920, like they did with the Lumia 900, the 920 will retail for only $99 when it goes on sale November 9th. Also on the 9th, AT&T will begin selling the Lumia 820, the mid-ranged Windows Phone 8 device from Nokia, for only $49. Both phones will be available for pre-order starting on November 7th. As an added bonus, AT&T will toss in a free wireless charging base for the Lumia 920, for a limited time.
Along with the announcement of the Lumia devices, AT&T confirmed the pricing for HTC’s signature Windows Phone device, the 8X which will come in both an 8GB and 16GB option for $99 and $199 respectively. The 8X will come in two exclusive colors, Limelight Yellow and California Blue. The Windows Phone 8X will be available before Thanksgiving.
All I can say is poor HTC. Here they have produced some great hardware in an attempt to make up for lost ground in the Android market and their 16GB Windows Phone 8 device will sell for $200, while Nokia’s Lumia 920, which has a better display, better camera, 32GB of storage and will come with a free wireless charging base will sell for only $99. How are they expected to compete with that and not lose money?
In any event, for those of you who’ve been patiently waiting for the Nokia Lumia 920, you should have a huge smile on your face, $99 dollars is a steal for that device and a free charging pad is awesome.
