Uh-oh Andy, looks like iOS gaining more steam. According to a report by Kantar Worldpanel ComTech (you can read here) Apple’s latest and greatest had a 2.8% increase in sales, which boosted them to over 27% market share, while Android on the other hand dropped 3% down from 49% to 46%. According to more sales data, the iPhone 4S held 42.8% of all smartphone sales in the month of October compared to Android’s 35%.
What makes this more impressive is that the iPhone 4S managed to accomplish this feat in under two weeks, and the iPhone 4S is only one, single device. Where as Android is made up of numerous devices. Which is to say that the iPhone beat out every other Android device combined for the month of October.
I’m not picking sides here folks, but that is freaking impressive. Call them iSheep or whatever you may, but people want themselves an iPhone. Should be interesting to see how well a new, redesigned iPhone with a bigger screen does next year. I’d put money on it that it will break all sales records and some of you Android fans who’ve wanted an iPhone, but have passed because of the screen size, will make the switch.
