According to some Asian suppliers for the new, smaller iPad, Apple is apparently naming the device the “iPad Mini.” While this name has been tossed around for a while by news outlets and blogs all over the internet, it was just a guess by some and a pet name by others, but if these sources are correct, then it’s also a name the community got right.
Aside from the news concerning the device’s name, we’re also hearing that Apple will not be revealing the iPad Mini along side the new iPhone on September 12, but instead will hold another event in October, a separate event just for the iPad Mini. It now makes sense as to why Apple decided to bump the event for the new iPhone up a month, seeing how iPhone 4S was announced in October last year, may assumed Apple would follow suit with the new iPhone. The new iPhone has been ready for production for some time now and perhaps the iPad Mini required an extra month to prepare for the demand. Either way, we know its coming, we know its name (assuming reports are true), so now we just need a price.
Who’s interested in a smaller, cheaper iPad?
