Perhaps it was the excitement of upgrading to fix OS X Lion or it could have been the very attractive $20 price tag, but whatever the reason, Apple announced today they’ve had over 3 million downloads of the latest OS X in just four days. OS X Mountain Lion is now Apple’s most successful OS launch in the company’s history, which is quite a feat when you consider the fact that the OS is only available to consumers as a downloadable update via the Mac App Store.
“Just a year after the incredibly successful introduction of Lion, customers have downloaded Mountain Lion over three million times in just four days, making it our most successful release ever,” said Philip Schiller, Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing.
