If you were tired of seeing Angry Birds merchandise everywhere you turned, you may want to stab your eyes out. Okay, that may be a little extreme, but you’d better prepare yourselves for another avalanche of stuffed animals, erasers, pen tops, phone cases and more, because the unstoppable juggernaut that is Angry Birds, has done it again.
Rovio announced today that their latest incarnation, Angry Birds Space, has surpassed 50 million downloads in 35 days. This feat, shatters all other digital download records, including Rovio’s own original Angry Birds game and its many variations.
“We extend our deepest gratitude to all fans of Angry Birds everywhere,” the company wrote in a blog post today. “While numbers like this certainly say something about the popularity of Angry Birds, for us the main goal is to keep creating fun new experiences that everybody can enjoy!”
Since its release, Rovio has already released 10 new levels, added a new feature, where if player sign in each day, they’ll unlock a free “Mighty Eagle” and they have already teased another addition, which many people believe may be a tie-in with the Simpsons.
Angry Birds Space is currently available for download on iOS, Android, Windows and Mac operating systems, prices vary.
