Last year, prior to the launch of the Kindle Fire, it was rumored that Amazon was working on two tablets, a 7-inch and a 10-inch, codenamed Coyote and Hollywood, respectively. The Hollywood was delayed and the Coyote turned out to be the Kindle Fire.
Now we are hearing report that Amazon is looking to release a new 9-inch Kindle “Fire-like” tablet. This is according to a Pacific Crest analyst, Chad Bartley, who just raised his Kindle Fire shipment estimates up to 14.9 million units from 12.7 million. Bartley also expects a new 9-inch tablet to be unveiled which he believes Amazon will release mid-2012. Whether this new 9-inch tablet is real and if it will replace the former 10-inch tablet remains to be seen. What we do know is that Amazon is not stopping with just a 7-inch Kindle Fire, there is a larger tablet on the horizon, we just don’t know the exact size, yet.
